Chapman Entertainment flys through seven feature films worth of finished animation in 18 months with Stop Motion Pro.
Chapman Entertainment Studios has announced the second
anniversary of its partnership with Stop Motion Pro, a software company
that allows animators the ability to preview what is happening on set.
Through this tool, Chapman has had great success with pre-school stop
motion sensations, Fifi and the Flowertots and Roary the
Racing Car , with the team shooting seven feature films worth of
finished animation in 18 months (65 episodes) without any technical
issues. Commenting on the partnership, Chapman’s Managing Director and
Executive Producer, Greg Lynn, said: “We are very proud of our studio,
it was a logical move in our development and it has allowed us to do all
sorts of exciting projects, including the BBC Children in Need video
last November called Peter Kay’s Animated All Star Band. Stop Motion
Pro is a very professional outfit and over the course of the past two
years, they have been flexible and adapted their software to meet our
needs. We are really pleased!”
Paul Howell, Director at Stop Motion Pro comments, “We are so impressed
with the wonderful work being done by Chapman Entertainment – they are
breaking new ground in terms of production values and throughput.
Leveraging the powerful content management tools unique to Stop Motion
Pro has seen Chapman really power ahead. Efficiencies in the pipeline
mean valuable time can be spent getting the artistic vision just right,
“Roary” and “Fifi” shine. The animators have embraced the editor and
looping tools in Stop Motion Pro. It has been great to witness first
hand the increased productivity and and artistic benefits.”

Chapman Entertainment opened its studio doors in March 2008
when it employed over 20 people in Altrincham, near Manchester, under
the watchful eyes of Director, Tim Harper and Senior Producer, Phil
Chalk. Chapman
Entertainment was formed in 2002 and has since established itself as an
award-winning, rapidly growing company specialising in the creation,
production and IP management of original, quality entertainment
properties.
Fifi and the Flowertots, starring the voice of Jane Horrocks (Absolutely
Fabulous, Little Voice), was the company’s first beautifully
constructed stop-frame animation which hit the small screen in 2005 and
has since blossomed into one of the most-loved pre-school programmes on
air in Britain. Chapman Entertainment’s second stop-frame animation
property, Roary the Racing Car, starring the voices of Peter Kay, Sir
Stirling Moss and Murray Walker, has raced into pole position and has
now been sold to over 140 countries internationally.
