The Rotoscope. Import and sync movies or stills for timing and inspiration. Import shots for continuity and eyelines - even use it for matching a characters movements to keep action consistent across shots (eg a walk cycle).
You can import video files (Quicktime MOV or AVI) or still images (JPG, BMP, TIF or TGA) into the Rotoscope
The Rotoscope is in all editions of Stop Motion Pro except Action!
Here is a sample file, download and save it your desktop (right click on the link and select Save As). You need to have Quicktime installed to use MOV files with SMP.
Create a new Production | Shot in SMP
Go to menu Tools | Rotoscope. Action! Plus and higher editions can open the tool using the sidebar.
Locate the sneeze.mov file on the desktop.
Scroll through the sneeze footage and find a good point to press the sync button.
Drag the opacity slider to blend the live action footage over your actual frames. Note that the transparent image is not saved when you capture.
When syncronized, the Rotoscope will advance automatically each time you capture a frame.
