   Starting an animation

Question

How do I start animating

Answer

Getting started is easy.  All you need is a compatible video camera, webcam or digital still camera and our free trial version. Check the requirements page for information on compatible hardware and software.

Stop motion animation is created by moving or changing subject material in front of a camera, while filming each incremental change. Playing back these images creates the illusion of movement, the very essence of animation.

The Stop Motion Pro Quickstart guide is designed so you can create your first animated movie with sound using Stop Motion Pro in around 30 minutes. You will need to use Stop Motion Pro with a DV camera, web cam, Canon compact digital still camera or analogue video camera to complete the tasks in this Quickstart guide. Information on compatibility can be found here.

The advanced features of Stop Motion Pro can be later explored by clicking on the various “Help” buttons on different dialog boxes in the software. The tutorials section of this site also has demonstrations of the software in action.

The Quickstart guide is available as a download & print PDF document
